Yuri Costa

Director and screenwriter, Yuri Costa signs the short films Eleguá (2018), awarded at the Mostra Afluentes - 3 Margens Festival Latino-Americano and Egum (2020), selected at over 80 festivals and awarded Best Short Film by the Official Jury of the 23rd Tiradentes Film Festival, as Favorites of the Public, in the 31st Curta Kinoforum and Best Screenplay in the Mostra Macabra of the 5th Curta Canedo. Participated in writers rooms for Globoplay (2022) in co-production with RT Features and in 3ªT by Os Roni, a sitcom co-produced between Multishow and Formata. Award winner of the 24th Screenplay Laboratory of the Curta Cinema Festival (2021) and selected for Globosat’s New Screenwriters Program (2019), he was also curator of the II São Félix Black Film Festival (2021) and a jury member of the Festival’s official competition Fade to Black (2021). Associate of APAN (Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals). Graduated in Social Communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he developed the work "Black Cinemas and Decolonization", with additional training in TV Series Script by Screenwriting. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in the communication program also at UFRJ, with research on Afro-surrealism, speculative fiction and experimental black cinema and is developing the short film E Seu Corpo É Belo (2022), awarded by RioFilme's Retomada do Audiovisual Carioca 2021.
