Maria Clara Parente

Actress, screenwriter, TV host, and director. Since 2016, she has been creating original work focused on sustainability, decolonial, and feminist issues. She directed, scripted and presented the series “WebColaborativa” in partnership with Projeto Colabora, nominated as best Brazilian series at Rio Web Fest (2016). She directed, scripted and presented the series “Comendo Lixo”, a zero waste kitchen program, for which she was nominated as best presenter at Rio Web Fest (2018). With her project This is not the truth, she co-directed, scripted and presented the documentary series “What is Emerging” (Brazil, Germany and USA), winner of the awards for best non-fiction script at Rio Web Fest (2019) and best non-fiction series at FICA.VC (2019), screened at festivals in Spain (2019), Ukraine (2019), and Germany (2020). In partnership with the platform Hysteria (Conspiração Filmes) and the German platform Emerge, she produced and presented the video "This is not a Manifesto". She directed her first documentary feature film, “Regenerar: Caminhos Possíveis on a Planeta Machucado”, in partnership with Spanda Produtora, which premiered at the 2022 Rio Film Festival, was screened at the University of Peace in Costa Rica 2022, in the Latino and Native American Film Festival, and won the award for best documentary direction and social impact film at the Tiete Film Awards (2023). She published the poetry books “Nas Frestas das Fendas” (2020) and “Empurrar o Chão” (2022), both by publishing house 7letras. She is a master's student in the Literature, Culture and Contemporaneity program at PUC-Rio, where she researches fables outside anthropocentric logic to investigate other ways of (co)living based on the work of philosopher and biologist Donna Haraway. She is currently producing the short fiction film “Dique”, of which she is one of the co-authors.
