Julia De Simone

(Rio de Janeiro, 1982) is a director, screenwriter, and producer. She holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art Studies (UFF) and completed the Creative Documentary program at Observatorio de Cine in Barcelona. A partner at Mirada Filmes, she has been dedicated to audiovisual production since 2003. Praia Formosa (Tiger Competition, Rotterdam 2024) is her first fiction feature, a Brazil-Portugal co-production supported by the Hubert Bals Fund and the World Cinema Fund. She has directed numerous documentaries and experimental films, which have been screened at festivals such as IDFA, Rotterdam, BAFICI, Cartagena, Uruguay, Havana, FICUNAM, Tiradentes, Festival do Rio, and the São Paulo International Film Festival, among others.
