Joana Penna
Author-scriptwriter and playwright, with almost 10 years of experience in the audiovisual market and theater. From the Theater Theory and Aesthetics course (UNIRIO), she began studying scripts with several professionals in the field – Mauricio Rizzo, Zé Carvalho and Barbara Harrington (Screenwriting), Jorge Furtado, Adriana Falcão, Eliseo Altunaga (EICTV), Eric Cunningham and Britta Von Schoeler (Saturday Night Live), John Truby (Anatomy of Story), Steve Kaplan (Hidden Tools of Comedy), among others. She worked as a permanent scriptwriter for 8 years at TV Globo (2014-2022) where she wrote programs such as the new “Zorra” (nominated for an International Emmy 2016); “A gente riu assim”; “Dani-se”. As of 2022, she has developed action comedy series for Formata/Paramount; the miniseries “95%” for the Podcast “Mamilos” (B9) and the series “Cosme e Damião”, to debut in 2024 (Porta dos Fundos/Globoplay), where he is currently working on the second season. She wrote several plays such as “Bom dia para quem?” (2017), “Extra!Ordinárias” (2021) and “O Prato Principal” (2022/23). She also provides script/content consultancy and curation. Joana is also an actress, graduated from CAL, and won the Best Actress Award at the LA Short Film Festival for the short film “O que restou”, directed by Mauricio Stal, in addition to having acted in several plays.
